chakras & our optimal wellbeing

We learned in our schooling that everything in this Universe is energetic matter; that energetic matter can change but never really be destroyed. If you have taken an Anatomy & Physiology or Biology class, you may have learned that the human heartbeat is regulated by 2 electrical nodes. The SA and AV nodes, respectively. Yet, our modern world questions the impact of energy centers in our body. Eastern Medicine has long recognized the 7 Energy Centers, or Chakras. Chakras are aligned from the base of our spine up through the top of our head and correlate with various physical or emotional matters.

The 7 chakras are:

Root Chakra-located at the base of the spine. “Muladhara”

Sacral Chakra-located in the lower abdomen/womb space “Swadhisthana”

Solar Plexus Chakra- located at the top of the abdomen “Manipura”

Heart Chakra-located at the center of our chest in the area of the heart “Anahata”

Throat Chakra-located at the center of our throat near our voicebox “Vishuddha”

Third Eye Chakra-located just above the eyebrows in the center of the forehead “Ajna”

Crown Chakra-located at the top/crown of the head “Sahasrara”

As you can see here, the chakras sit in alignment along the spine, with their own energy associated with various colors and symbols. One of my favorite tools to use with clients is a chakra alignment assessment to notice any blockages or what comes up for the client. We can then begin to work with each center individually from Root to Crown to achieve energetic balance. The benefits of free flowing energy include an improved quality of life and positive health improvements. In the following posts, we will begin to digest each chakra and provide insight into how to achieve balance with each to reach homeostasis of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.
